1941 December 7th-11th * Japanese fighter planes attacked Pearl Harbor Hawaii at 7:55am * This attack took the biggest amount of U.S Naval life in history. It killed 1,177 sailors and marines. * That very next day Dec. 8th the U.S decided to declare war on Japan. * On Dec. 11th the U.S also decided to declare war on Italy and Germany.
1942 February 19th *110,000 japanese americans including 75,000 citizens on the west coast were sent into relocation camps during this time.
June 4-7 *The battle of midway is fought at midway islands. *The Japanese endured their first loss. *The Midway battle ends on June 7th *The Aleutian Islands are invaded by Japan. It was the 1st invasion on American Soil in 128yrs.
June 20th *The Prime Minister, Winston Churchill and Hyde Park agree to the 1st atomic bomb.
August 7th *The U.S marines set foot on Guadacanal, Solomen Islands. *The Americans are on the offensive the 1st time during WW2. *A Naval battle will be fought on November 12th.
December 2nd *At the University of Chicago in the Manhattan project, they produced the 1st neculear chain reaction.
1943 February 14th *The U.S endures their first loss in the European Theater.
July 10th *The U.S army has it's 45th Infantry Division land on the Sicily Islands. They start campaigning of allied invasions into Europe that is controlled.
November 28th * Held for 3 days was the Tehran Conference. In that conference was an agreement between Franklin Roosevelt,the Prime Minister and Josef Stalin. *They agreed to have an invasion of Europe on June 1944.
1944 June 6th *The Normandy Invasion takes place. *The allied soldiers were on France's beaches. This would begin the WW2 invasion of Europe. *It was the largest military with 155,00 allied troops and 11 other allied nations.
June 22nd *The G.I Bill of Rights is signed. *It provided benefits to veterans.
July 17th *The biggest U.S tragedy happened when 2 ships were just loading at Port Chicago on a normal day when BAM! The station explodes. *This explosion killed 320 people.
July 21st *The U.S military begins to occupy the Guam Island once more after the Japanese. *This battle would end on August 10th.
1945 *The Yalta Conference is held by Roosevelt, Prime Minister Churchill and Josef Stalin. *They agree on having the USSR to enter battle with Japan.
February 19th *30,0000 U.S marines land on Iwo Jima. *This is a battle that America invades Okinawa. This happened on April 1st. *This is the beginning of a battle that would end of continue on up to June 21st.
March 1st *American troops cross Rhine River in Remagen, Germany. *On March 18th 2 weeks later after their crossing, 1,250 U.S. bombers bombed Berlin. *One day later Adolf Hilter announces the destruction of his Military and industries.
May 7th 1945 *France concludes the military engagments of ww2. *General Dwight D. Eisenhower accepts this.
July 16th 1945 *The 1st atomic bomb is exploded at Alcmogordo, New Mexico.
*August 6th-15th *Harry S. Truman allows the use of the atomic bomb with the bombing is dropped 3 days later on Naguski Japan. *On August 15th Hirohito Emperer of Japan surrenders.
1946 July 4th *The U.S. gives the nation of Philippines their independence. *Percy Spencer invented the Microwave Oven.(sometime during this time period.)
1947 April 15th *Jackie Robinson joins the Major League. He still joined even though black players weren't approved.
1948 July 28th *Harry S. Truman signs the excutive order to end segregation in the U.S military.
1949 April 4th *The North American Treaty Organization is developed by U.S. *The treaty states"any attack against one nation would be considered an attack against them all."
October 14th *11 leaders of the of the U.S communist party are convicted of a violent and overthrow of the U.S government. *The Supreme court would uphold convictions on June 4th 1951.
